Response to Coronavirus
In light of the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic here in the US, it is necessary to communicate how we here at Grace Reformed Baptist Church will proceed.
Through the remainder of this month, we will suspend our fellowship meal and afternoon service on the Lord's day. This also means we will not gather together for corporate prayer on Wednesday, March 25th, at 7:30 p.m.
We will however, gather at 9:45 for an abbreviated time of corporate prayer, and at 10:30 a.m. for the public worship of God. This will honor the request of our governor while at the same time afford us an opportunity to sanctify the Lord's day. We will reassess the situation in April to determine the best course forward.
With these things in mind, we would make the following requests of those who choose to attend our services —
If you or any of your children are sick with a fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath; we would ask you to please remain at home.
If you are in a group vulnerable to this virus (elderly and/or immune deficient) we ask you to use the greatest caution in deciding whether to attend services.
If you are very anxious about the possibility of catching something, please feel free to stay at home.
If you do decide to worship with us, be careful to avoid physical contact. Please wash your hands before coming and as needed thereafter. If you have portable hand sanitizer, please bring it, and please feel free to use it.
If you take time to speak with others, we would ask you to be careful to not spread fear and worry by dwelling on the current situation. In the limited time we have together, we need to keep the focus on the Lord and speak those things that will build one another up in faith.
We are of course are taking extra care to ensure that our facilities are properly cleaned and sanitized after each service. If you have any hand sanitizer or alcohol wipes, please bring them with you and use them as you see fit. The scarcity of these things means we may not be able to have them on hand at the meetinghouse. If these are items that you have and would be able and willing to donate to the church, it would be sincerely appreciated.
Let all of us put our trust in the Lord and place your confidence in him. This time of pestilence is all consistent with our God's infinite wisdom, power, and love. We have no reason to be undone by fear. On the contrary, we have a hope to share with those who do not know God or his Son Jesus Christ who came to free those who all their lives are in bondage because of their fear of death (Heb. 2:15). Then let us be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, let us make our request unto God, and the peace of God which passes all understanding will guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
